St Dupont Lighter Serial Number

Posted on

The script S T Dupont looks way off to my eye. If you contact ST Dupont and give them the serial number on the bottom, they can tell you without question if it is real. If the selling party does not picture the bottom of the lighter, where the serial number is, its Probably fake.

It's hard to tell the age exactly, only ST Dupont themselves might have some sort of serial number registry, but they're not very responsive to most inquiries. You can tell from the flame height adjuster that it's a newer ligne 1, and not the older style.

That said, it has to be made after 1965. The design looks a bit dated, and that said it's probably no newer than the 80s. So probably somewhere between 65 and 1985 would be my guess. It's definitely repairable.

The newer style ligne 1's all are. Whether you could repair it yourself or not all depends on your skill level and what is wrong. It probably needs all the seals/gaskets replaced at the very least. You'll probably have to take it apart to even have a better idea of what's actually wrong. Generally most authorized ST Dupont repair places will probably charge you $60-90 to fix it, but in my experience most can be fixed if you're willing to spend the money. Google play services apk download for android 236 free I will try to contact Dupont once more and see if they have this registry. I live in the Netherlands and the nearest official repair centre is in Belgium, at Dupont themselves.

And they are not very responsive indeed. All the local stores also keep refering me to Dupont, not very helpful. Anyway I'm going to take the lighter apart and see if i can find anything wrong in there by myself. If not I will try to find someone at Dupont's who DOES speak proper English or Dutch. I am definitely willing to spend the money because it was my grandfathers lighter.

Dupont

I'll get back on this and thanks for the help!

I wouldn’t go to a authorized dealer but a actual ST DuPont store the best I could say is try and send a email directly to ST DuPont with detailed pictures and the serial number. When I went to a st DuPont store to buy flints and gas for a lighter for a limited edition I had purchased that I may post pics sooner or later they showed me a book so I could point out which model I had and they got the correct gas for me.

I don’t know how far back in the years it went but i was able to find my model made In 2012. I don’t want to discourage you if it ends up being fake but knowing it’s your fathers I would still keep it. Edit: you can check these thing to determine if it is fake or not. I remember seeing one of these on eBay about a year ago. It has a slightly different design, and the Flint wheel was decorated differently. I believe it went unsold for $400 or $500. I found a different one that I had missed on eBay a while back, but I couldn't see the date that it was listed.

It also went unsold, But I do not know how much he was listed for. Without seeing more pictures of the lighter and checking the serial number for authenticity, as well as other features of the lighter, it would be hard to say if it were real or not. Like others of mentioned, take it to an st dupont store or if you think it needs to be serviced, you can send it in and they will tell you right away. There are some very convincing fakes, I've had more than one in my hand. I hope that it's real, that would be a very unique piece to own.
